RESEARCH INTERESTS - My work focuses on robotic vision and human perception, including text/symbol spotting, scene perception, reading and cognitive modeling. I am interested in interdisciplinary approaches to build intelligent systems in the fields of machine perception, cognitive science, assistive technology, and cyber-physical systems. My current projects aim at developing wearable, miniaturized, and energy-efficient navigation systems for people who are blind and visually impaired and passengers in dynamic environments (e.g., Tokyo train station).
BIOGRAPHY - I received my PhD from the Department of Computer Science, UMass Boston, and B.S. and M.S. in National Taiwan University.
